Fifty-one Cooley Dickinson Volunteers Honored for Service
NORTHAMPTON — A familiar face in Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s coffee shop, Julie Lamson, was recognized for 8,000 hours of service, the highest-achieving recipient in the hospital’s annual volunteer award ceremony. Lamson was one of 51 volunteers honored, many of whom attended an awards brunch on June 4.
Two emeritus volunteers, Maria Derouin and Geraldine Ognibene, were also recognized for their many years of service.
Recognized for 4,000 hours were Emily Burque, John Favaro, Nancy Flickinger, and Madeleine Lenz; for 3,000 hours, Pauline Marney, Scott Plantier and R. Jean Powers; for 2,000 hours, Patrick Gaughan, Nancy Sheehan, Cynthia McQueston, and Dennis Daniels; and for 1,000 hours, Doris Friedman, Marianne Gambaro, Howard Gersten, Manuel Gross, Irene Knowlton, Kristina Reightmyer, Margaretta Slezak, Gail Stahlberg, Jean Willard, Robert Flaherty, and Jean Rogers, who recently passed away.
Honored for 500 hours were Jenna Costigan, Mary Diemand, Roger Frant, Patricia Kellogg, Diana Tindall, and Catherine Shaw; and for 100 hours, Evelyn Bogan, Ezra Aurian-Blajeni, Edwin Cruz, William Durie-Poliwoc, Desiree Farrell, Jane Harwood, Rosie Haynes, Allison Helems, Eliza Hobart, Gerard Hughes, Ann Jewers, Leslie Johnson, Abar Kayamba, Ashley LeBlanc, Malcolm Metzer, Carol Recore, Tyler Schanzer, Judith Stone, Leah Thompson, and Letitia Ward.
In 2014, 408 Cooley Dickinson volunteers donated nearly 43,000 hours in various jobs throughout the hospital. The volunteer awards ceremony is coordinated by the Cooley Dickinson Hospital Auxiliary.
