Free Lunch & Learn Workshop to Tackle Topic of Preparing for the Future as We Age

EASTHAMPTON — The Easthampton Council on Aging (ECOA), in partnership with the Cooley Dickinson Hospital Pioneer Valley Memory Care Initiative (PVMCI), is offering a free Lunch & Learn workshop on Wednesday, April 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Easthampton Congregational Church, offering practical guidance on planning ahead and maintaining well-being as we age.

Sharon Asher, Karen Romanowski, and Deborah Peavey of the PVMCI will speak on topics including legal and financial planning considerations; ways to support physical, cognitive, and emotional health; and practical tips for overall well-being and healthy aging.

“Planning ahead and staying informed can help older adults feel more confident, prepared, and empowered,” Asher said. “We’ll provide clear, useful information and take-home resources, and a separate, staffed activity at the same time in another room for individuals living with dementia, allowing full-time caregivers to participate fully in the workshop.”

Added Cynthia Tarail, ECOA director, “we invite anyone who lives with, supports, or cares about an older adult to join the many older adults who will have a strong interest in this event. Based on attendance at past informational sessions that we have partnered with PVMCI on, and the free catered lunch, we know this event will fill up quickly. Thankfully, the Easthampton Congregational Church is making its facility available, where they have more room and parking than we do at the senior center.”

To register, contact ECOA at signmeup@easthamptonma.gov, (413) 527-6151, ext. 139, or 19 Union St., Easthampton. Rides are available for city residents.
