Freedom Credit Union Raises $4,191 to Support Walk to End Alzheimer’s
SPRINGFIELD — On Sept. 26, Freedom Credit Union helped support the Alzheimer’s Assoc. both by forming a team and participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Holyoke Community College and by collecting cash donations at all its branches throughout the month. Together, these efforts resulted in a total donation of $4,191.
“Our team literally stepped up in a big way to raise funds and awareness in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia,” Freedom Credit Union President Glenn Welch said. “This terrible disease affects more than 6 million people in the United States, including many of our families, friends, and neighbors here in Western Massachusetts.”
Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.
“Our team raised $2,785 through the walk, and our members contributed an additional $1,406,” Welch noted. “So many of our members and staff have been affected by this devastating disease, so we were proud to help do our part.”
