Fulbright Visiting Scholar from Spain Lectures at Springfield College
SPRINGFIELD — Victor Rubio, a Fulbright visiting scholar from Spain, presented a lecture on “Psychological Aspects Involved in Sustaining and Recovering from Sport Injury” on June 2 at Springfield College.
Rubio is an associate professor in the Department of Biological and Health Psychology at the University Autonoma Madrid, and is currently a Fulbright visiting scholar at the University of Minnesota’s School of Kinesiology.
Rubio’s research interests are focused on health and sport psychology, particularly analyzing psychological variables that might make athletes more vulnerable to injury. He is currently involved in analyzing the role of perceived benefits and personal growth following a sport injury and how such aspects can affect recovery duration, treatment compliance, medical staff-athlete climate, and athlete well-being.
The Outreach Lecturing Fund allows Fulbright visiting scholars currently in the U.S. to travel to other higher-education institutions across the country. The purpose of the Outreach Lecturing Fund is to allow these scholars to share their specific research interests; speak on the history and culture of their home country; exchange ideas with students, faculty, and community organizations in the U.S.; become better-acquainted with higher education in the U.S., and create links between their home and host institutions.
