Gifts To CDH Employees Boost Economy
NORTHAMPTON — More than $80,000 will be funneled back into the Northampton area thanks to Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s (CDH) purchase
of “Splurge” gift certificates for every employee.
This holiday season, members of CDH’s management team gave each employee $50 worth of gift certificates. “We have found this to be the most popular holiday gift we’ve ever provided,” said Craig Melin, president and CEO of CDH. “We have the good fortune to be surrounded by the best restaurants, goods, services, shops, and local crafts.”
Suzanne Beck, executive director of the Northampton Chamber of Com-merce, said CDH’s purchase on behalf of its employees represents one-third of the chamber’s annual gift certificate sales. “With the purchase of the Northampton Splurge gift certificates in 2003, as well as during the 2001 and 2002 holiday seasons, Cooley Dickinson has generously invested in the local economy as well as in their employees.”
There are 1,649 people employed by Cooley Dickinson Health Care, which includes CDH, CD Practice Associates, the VNA & Hospice of Cooley Dickinson, and the Physician Hospital Assoc.
