WEST SPRINGFIELD — Working with the American Heart Assoc., Hannoush Jewelers has donated an automated external defibrillator (AED) to West Springfield High School.
The equipment, donated at ceremonies staged Nov. 7, is used to resuscitate individuals who have suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Dean C. Nash, communications director for the Western and Central Mass. American Heart Assoc., said schools should be equipped with AEDs because they serve as community centers and have a large volume of adult employees and community visitors. Also, schools are large facilities that may not be easily accessible to EMS personnel.
Nash said the donation from Hannoush will hopefully inspire similar contributions for other schools and public facilities. |
