HCS Head Start to Host 2024 Kindergarten Fair on Jan. 24
SPRINGFIELD — Holyoke Chicopee Springfield (HCS) Head Start will host its 2024 Kindergarten Fair on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. to provide preschool families with the opportunity to learn more about the transition from preschool to kindergarten.
This event, taking place at the Carew Street Head Start Center located at 65 Carew St., Springfield, will allow HCS Head Start to continue providing high-quality early-education and support services to children and families in the community.
Head Start is a federal program that promotes the school readiness of children from birth to age 5 from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. More than 100 children and their families transition from HCS Head Start programs to kindergarten every year. The educators play a critical role in helping families bridge the transition from Head Start to kindergarten. Resources and representatives from elementary schools will be at the event to speak with parents about important dates to remember and tips for a smooth transition into kindergarten.
“Our goal at HCS is to make sure children and their parents are ready for the transition to kindergarten. It is an incredibly important part of a young child’s educational journey,” CEO Nicole Blais said. “Hosting a kindergarten fair gives families the opportunity to meet other parents and get valuable resources for them and their child.”
