MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to nurture and develop the skills, opportunities, and spirit of families in Greater Springfield and the surrounding communities.
  WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Martin Luther King Jr. Family Services Inc. fully embraces the vision of the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. of the “beloved” community. As a multi-cultural and multi-service agency dedicated to being “keepers of the dream,” we nurture and empower the aspirations of individuals, families, and youth to achieve new realities of peace, social and economic justice, self-determination, self-actualization and self- sufficiency. Agency programs include:
• Afterschool programming;
• Night Spot;
• Clemente course;
• Emergency food pantry and mobile food pantry; • Family stabilization – FSB program;
• Problem gambling prevention;
• Gun violence prevention;
• Social Justice HNE – food and nutrition; • Baystate Health Community Program;
• HBCU tours / college readiness;
• Senior grab & go lunch program;
• Summer youth work program;
• ASOST – education program; and
• Parent engagement program.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Jan. 16, 2023: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, “Chasing the Dream, Arriving Together, and Standing in the Light,” 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., MassMutual Center, Springfield. Presenting partners include Martin Luther King Jr. Family Services, Community Music School of Springfield, Springfield College, Inclusive Strategies LLC, Legacy Sounds, Springfield Cultural Partnership, Focus Springfield, Urban League of Springfield, and Springfield Public Schools. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
There are many ways in which you can volunteer your time and assist the organization. Individuals can donate their time and talents during our open pantry every Thursday from 6 to 11 a.m.
