JGS Lifecare to Hold Annual Community Meeting on Oct. 9
LONGMEADOW — JGS Lifecare, a healthcare system serving seniors and their families, will hold its annual community meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9 at Leavitt Family Jewish Home, 770 Converse St., Longmeadow. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served at 5:30 p.m. in Michael’s Café, and the annual meeting will commence at 6:30 p.m. in the Hy and Roz Gloth Auditorium. The community is encouraged to participate.
This year, the Chair’s Service Award will be presented to Rabbi Devorah Jacobson in recognition of her 24 years of devoted service as director of Spiritual Life at JGS Lifecare. Jacobson retired in December 2024, having led Jewish and interfaith programming and chaplaincy services with compassion, wisdom, and a deep commitment to the well-being of residents, staff, families, and volunteers.
Jacobson provided a steady and comforting presence and attention to the spiritual and emotional needs of the JGS community. She was a source of strength for staff, offering care and compassion in both their daily work and personal lives. She collaborated with interfaith colleagues to ensure everyone’s spiritual needs and interest were honored. Her inclusive approach, deep empathy, and unwavering presence touched countless lives and earned her recognition as a Healthcare Hero by BusinessWest and the Healthcare News during the COVID-19 pandemic.
