Johnson Memorial Hospital Earns ‘A’ Safety Grade from Leapfrog Group

STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. — Memorial Hospital (JMH) earned an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns grades of ‘A,’ ‘B,’ ‘C,’ ‘D,’ or ‘F’ to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“Johnson’s ‘A’ safety grade from the Leapfrog Group is another indication of the successful efforts of our outstanding clinical team and dedicated support staff who work together to provide safe, high-quality patient care every day,” said Dr. Robert Roose, president of Johnson Memorial Hospital and Mercy Medical Center.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only national hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the U.S. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
