Kate’s Kitchen to Serve Holiday Meal on Christmas Day
HOLYOKE — Providence Ministries announced that Kate’s Kitchen will be open for dining-room service on Christmas, Sunday, Dec. 25, to serve the community lunch in a safe and friendly environment.
The holiday season can be difficult for those without homes or support systems, causing lack of nutrition, depression, and loneliness. Giving people a dignified place to gather with others for a meal provides more than a physical need; it provides an emotional one. Ever since Providence’s inception by Sr. Margaret McCleary in 1980, the organization has strived to provide much-needed services and resources to those in need. One way it does this is through its community kitchen, where a nutritious meal is served 365 days a year from noon to 2 p.m. Kate’s Kitchen is located at 51 Hamilton St. in Holyoke.
