Kimball Farms to Host Author Heather Mann on Feb. 1
LENOX — Kimball Farms Life Care will host author Heather Mann — author of Ocean of Insight: A Sailor’s Voyage from Despair to Hope — on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.
Mann and her husband spent six years exploring the Atlantic Ocean on a small sloop. Her memoir is a “chronological unfolding of disasters and discoveries: life-threatening storms, the boredom of isolation, societies on the brink of extinction, sinking ships, near collisions, and more.”
Mann is the founder and past director of the Center for Resilient Cities, where, among her responsibilities, she advised the U.S. Forest Service on climate-change policy. Her environmental-advocacy career began with a master’s degree in land resources from the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. Those wishing to attend are asked to register by calling (413) 637-7000.
Established in 1989, Kimball Farms provides a continuum of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, short-term rehabilitation, and long-term skilled-nursing care.
