LEGO Employees Put Their Products and Skills to the Test at Square One
SPRINGFIELD — Employees of LEGO in Enfield, Conn. will be returning to Square One, once again putting their playtime skills and products to the test.
On Friday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to noon, LEGO staff members will join the children and teachers at Square One’s Tommie Johnson Child & Family Center, 255 King St., Springfield, for a morning of volunteerism and purposeful play. Children will engage in finger painting, story reading, and LEGO’s Six Bricks activities.
Six Bricks is one of the LEGO Foundation’s tools to introduce learning through play. Through fun and short activities with sets of LEGO DUPLO bricks in six bright colors, children can practice their memory, movement, creativity, and more. Activities are adapted to match the children’s skills and interests.
“LEGO and Square One have a shared understanding that play supports and develops children’s approaches to learning,” said Maria Bedard, Square One’s vice president of Early Education & Care. “Research studies and our experience link quality play experiences to gains in cognitive learning and academic achievement, physical health, and social-emotional development.”
