‘Living With Grief’ Program to Focus on Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia
GREENFIELD — Hospice of Franklin County and Baystate Franklin Medical Center will co-sponsor Hospice Foundation of America’s 22nd annual “Living With Grief” program on Thursday, May 14.
“The Longest Loss: Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia” is a national presentation and panel discussion that will be offered from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Baystate Franklin Medical Center. Three hours of continuing-education credit are available for nurses, social workers, counselors, clergy, and others. The program is free of charge; however, registration is required due to limited seating. CEUs are available for $15.

The pre-recorded presentation is moderated by Frank Sesno, director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University. The program will examine losses associated with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia that become a pervasive part of life for millions of patients, their families, and friends.
Following the presentation, a local panel of experts will lead the audience through a 30-minute discussion. Panelists include Marcia McKenzie, director of the Diversity Initiative, Western Region Alzheimer’s Assoc.; Dr. Sara Roarke, medical director, Baystate Medical Practices; Robin Martin, certified dementia specialist and director of Nursing, New England Health Center; Joan Roche, gerontological clinical nurse specialist; and Jean Footit, social worker, Hospice of Franklin County.
