Loomis Communities Invites Public to Free Active Aging Week Events at All Campuses
SOUTH HADLEY — The Loomis Communities invites the public to free exercise and wellness events taking place at all three Loomis campuses — Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing in Springfield, Loomis Village in South Hadley, and Applewood in Amherst — during Active Aging Week Oct. 1-7.
The purpose of Active Aging Week is to show that, regardless of age or health conditions, adults over age 50 can live as fully as possible in all areas of life — physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, occupational, environmental, and financial. Programming at the three Loomis campuses will consist of exercise and wellness classes and groups, artistic and cultural workshops, and trips to other Loomis campuses.
Some examples of events being held at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing are chair aerobics, core exercise, creative writing, and a trip to Loomis Village for a cooking demonstration. Those interested in attending events at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing are asked to RSVP to Tina Ferri at (413) 782-1800.
At Loomis Village, a few of the many events being held are a meditation group, an art-therapy workshop, a trail-walking group, a lecture about Notre Dame Cathedral, and a trip to Applewood’s Orchard Arboretum. Those interested in attending events at Loomis Village are asked to RSVP Deb Peavey at (413) 532-5325.
Applewood events will include a consultation with a fitness instructor, ping-pong, meditation, a DVD exercise class, and a trip to Loomis Village for swimming. Those interested in attending events at Applewood are asked to RSVP to Kelley Murphy at (413) 253-9833.
