Loomis Communities Outreach Raises over $19,000

WESTERN MASS. — The Loomis Communities has announced that residents and employees have worked collaboratively to raise $19,397 throughout 2008 in support of other non-profit organizations in the Pioneer Valley and beyond.

Among those efforts, blood drives were held for Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and the American Red Cross; a Valentine’s Day cookie sale benefited the American Heart Assoc.; residents and staff participated in the daffodil sale and Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society; Loomis Communities partnered with the Sodexo Foundation with the Power of Change Campaign to benefit the Food Bank of Western Mass.; 17 staff members and residents sold Brightside Angels and other products at the Holyoke Mall; and staff and residents wrapped gifts for the Hospice program of the Holyoke Visiting Nurse Assoc. at the Holyoke Mall.

In addition, to benefit the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 60 walkers participated in the Memory Walk, 183 dozen blueberry muffins were sold, and 30 residents and non-residents participated in a bridge marathon and a wine reception.

Loomis Communities is a non-profit, continuing-care retirement community that provides lifestyle and health care options to enrich the lives of older adults. Its communities include Applewood at Amherst, Loomis House in Holyoke, and Loomis Village in South Hadley.
