McKay Joins Neurological Group

HOLYOKE – Holyoke Medical Center announced the addition of Dr. Natasha McKay to one of the center’s major surgical groups, New England Neurosurgical Associates. She joins the well-established practice of Drs. Christopher Comey and Kamal Kalia.

Originally from New York City, McKay received her undergraduate degree from Brown University, where she majored in Neuroscience. Surprisingly, Brown is one of only a few schools in the country to offer such a program. McKay said Brown fostered a strong interest in the neurosciences which drew her to the neurobiology lab at Columbia University. It was here that her decision was made. She attended New York University Medical School and went on to complete her seven-year Neurosurgery residency last year at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

McKay has enjoyed working as a new member of New England Neurosurgical Associates, and looks forward to contributing her experience in complex spine, aneurysms, pituitary tumors, and brings a new specialty to the practice — treating acoustic neuromas.

An acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor that forms on the balance nerve near the ear in the skull. Although they are benign, they can cause problems because of the space they occupy.

The group also utilizes the latest advances in imaging technology, computing and instrumentation to allow treatment of disorders with minimally invasive techniques.
