Mercy Medical Center Updates Visitation Policy Change
SPRINGFIELD — As a result of the evolving health concern of COVID-19 in Massachusetts and surrounding states, Mercy Medical Center and its affiliates have implemented new restrictions on visitation, effective Tuesday, March 16. These restrictions are in place for the protection of patients and colleagues.
Mercy Medical Center, Providence Behavioral Health Hospital, and Weldon Rehabilitation Hospital will be closed to visitors, with the exception of compassionate visits, with a limit of one visitor per patient. Compassionate visits include labor and delivery, hospice care, pediatric care, and a companion for outpatient surgeries, procedures, and facilitation of care.
“We recognize that the care and support of loved ones is important,” the hospital noted in a statement. “Please know that the safety of our patients and colleagues is of the utmost importance. With proper authorization in place, we commit to communicating with family and friends as frequently as possible.”
