MHA Moves Wellness Classic Golf Tournament to Sept. 18
SPRINGFIELD — MHA’s Wellness Classic — the organization’s premier annual fundraising event — is still on. However, the COVID-19 crisis has forced MHA to bump the date ahead to Friday, Sept. 18 at Wilbraham Country Club (WCC).
“Even as society and the business world begin to slowly open up, we must acknowledge that it would be irresponsible to hold a golf tournament — a highly social event — in early June,” said Kim Lee, vice president of Resource Development & Branding. “Thanks to the great folks at WCC, we were able to simply reschedule our tournament to the final weekend of summer, which promises some of the best golfing weather all season.”
Throughout the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, MHA’s direct-care staff has continued to serve those in its care 24/7. The staff have kept some of our community’s most vulnerable members safe in a healthy and positive environment. “Our staff who go to work every day are truly essential workers,” Lee said. “We couldn’t be prouder of them.”
The MHA Wellness Classic is about more than golf. It’s about financially supporting the important work that MHA does, she noted.
“If you have committed to a foursome, we look forward to seeing you on the course September 18. If you know of other businesses or friends you’d like to introduce to MHA by way of our annual golf tournament, please let me know. And consider this: when September 18 arrives, all the practice putting you’re doing on your living-room rug will really improve your short game!”
