MHA Names VP Of Clinical Affairs
BURLINGTON, Mass. — The Mass. Hospital Assoc. (MHA) announced that Karen Nelson has been named senior vice president of Clinical Affairs. In that position, she will oversee all aspects of policy related to clinical issues and patient care.
Nelson most recently served as executive director of Clinical Compliance at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Among her responsibilities will be to lead the MHA’s Patient First initiative, which requires hospitals to report on measures of the quality of nursing care, posting nurse staffing plans for public viewing, and instituting nationally recognized strategies to reduce medical errors.
“Karen is extraordinarily well-qualified to lead the Patients First effort, hich will extend our tradition of providing the best medical care anywhere,” said MHA President Ronald Hollander. “She is the right person to help our member hospitals provide the highest quality of care, quality that is second to none.”
