Morrell-Ambo Receives Hand Therapy Certification

GREENFIELD — Catherine Morrell-Ambo, OTR/L, CHT, an occupational therapist with Baystate Rehabilitation Services at Franklin Medical Center, has completed her certification in hand therapy from HTCC Hand Therapy Certification Commission. The certification program includes extensive practice and independent study in Hand Therapy, including many continuing education courses specific to the practice. Certification requires successfully passing a national exam, followed by continual training and recertification every five years.

A graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Morrell-Ambo began her career as an occupational therapist at Barnstable County Hospital in Pocassett, Mass. Since then, she has worked at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., and at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, before joining Franklin Medical Center in 1988. She has worked in many aspects of occupational therapy, but hand therapy is her specialty. Morrell-Ambo is also trained in lymphadema bandaging and is a licensed kinesiotape practitioner.
