Pioneer Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s Kickoff Event Slated for Sept. 17

LONGMEADOW — The Alzheimer’s Assoc. Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter will host the Pioneer Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s kickoff event on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Leavitt Family Jewish Home, 770 Converse St., Longmeadow.

The event, titled “Impact of Dementia Across Pioneer Valley,” will bring together community members, advocates, and leaders for a morning of conversation and learning about the effects of dementia in the region.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with a light breakfast provided by JGS Lifecare. A panel discussion from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. will be moderated by Beth Cardillo with special guest state Sen. Jake Oliveira. Panelists include Grace Barone of East of the River Five Town Chamber of Commere, early state advocate Sean Terwilliger, and Meghan Lemay of the Alzheimer’s Assoc. The panel will highlight the personal, social, and economic impact of dementia in the Pioneer Valley while exploring how individuals and organizations can take action to support families, raise awareness, and help end Alzheimer’s disease.

The Pioneer Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Holyoke Community College. Funds raised through the walk fuel the Association’s mission of providing free care and support services, advocating for policies that advance dementia research, and funding global studies aimed at treatment and prevention.

The kickoff event is free and open to the public. RSVP by emailing jariveradiaz@alz.org. For more information about the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, visit alz.org/walk or call (800) 272-3900.
