SPRINGFIELD — Mercy Medical Center has expanded its multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Program with the addition of Francis J. Podbielski, MD, FACS to its surgical staff. Podbielski is a board-certified thoracic surgeon with expertise in the most advanced surgical techniques and treatments for lung and esophageal cancer.

Gallivan, MD, FACS, chief of thoracic surgery at the Sr. Caritas Cancer Center. “As a key participant in the multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Program, Dr. Podbielski offers patients the very best in lung cancer treatment options in a supportive environment close to home. There’s no reason for patients to travel outside of Western Mass. for the latest treatment.”
Podbielski brings expertise in the most advanced technologies in thoracic and esophageal surgery including lung volume reduction surgery, pulmonary esophageal oncology, minimally invasive lung cancer surgery, mediastinoscopy and video-assisted thoracic surgery.
He is a graduate of the University of Chicago and earned his medical degree from Northwestern University. He completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. |
