Porchlight VNA/Home Care Raises Funds for Low-income Seniors
LEE — Porchlight VNA/Home Care will host its annual tag sale and bake sale on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its offices located at 32 Park St. and 21 High St. in Lee, respectively.
The event will be a part of the Lee Founders’ Day Weekend celebrations taking part Sept. 18-20, including the parade, in which Porchlight will again be walking this year.
Porchlight has been involved in Lee and surrounding communities for more than 100 years and recognizes the importance of honoring the area’s tradition and history, said CEO Holly Chaffee, a member of the board of directors of the Lee Chamber of Commerce. “We really value our partnership with the chamber in supporting local businesses and building a strong community of engaged citizens.”
As a nonprofit home-healthcare agency, Porchlight raises funds to ensure its programs and services are available to the community. This event will benefit its low-income fund, which allows clients that have fallen on hard times or may not be able to afford services to remain in the agency’s care. Without this fund, many seniors would not have the assistance of certified nursing assistants, homemakers, or other caregivers when they are at their most vulnerable due to illness or frailty. In the past, the fund has been used to cover home-care services for clients struggling to make mortgage payments and pay medical bills after an unexpected illness has left them homebound.
The event will feature donations of goods for sale from many locals, staff, and clients wishing to support the nonprofit’s mission. Donations for the tag sale and bake sale are welcome for drop-off at the Lee offices until 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
