Railroad Street Youth Project to Present Free Screening of ‘Recovery City’ on April 9
GREAT BARRINGTON — The Railroad Street Youth Project (RSYP), in partnership with the South Berkshire Community Health Coalition SBCHC, South County Rural Recovery Center, and the Triplex Cinema, invites the community to a free screening of Recovery City on Wednesday, April 9. This event is open to parents, young people, educators, professionals who work with youth, the recovery community, and all community stakeholders.
The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with a welcome event in the Triplex lobby, featuring alcohol-free mocktails, recipe cards, and an interactive discussion on the 2025 Prevention Needs Assessment Survey findings. This will be the first public presentation of RSYP’s insights into substance-use trends and behaviors among Southern Berkshire County youth, including concerns about shifting patterns of alcohol and cannabis use and community norms that influence these behaviors.
At 6 p.m., a guest emcee from the South County Rural Recovery Center will offer brief opening remarks, sharing personal perspectives on substance use in South County. The screening of Recovery City, an acclaimed documentary directed by Lisa Olivieri, will follow from 6:10 to 7:30 p.m. The film explores addiction-recovery journeys and community resilience, themes deeply relevant to the youth and families of Berkshire County.
“This is more than just a film screening — it’s an opportunity for our community to come together, learn from real stories of resilience, and take a closer look at the experiences of young people in South County,” said Elliot Seward, youth advocate and program coordinator at RSYP. “We hope parents, educators, and local leaders will join us in this important conversation.”
Immediately following the film, RSYP will host a virtual Q&A session with Olivieri and some of the individuals featured in the documentary. The discussion will be moderated by RSYP and the South County Rural Recovery Center, with a focus on the film’s themes and their local relevance. Audience members are invited to submit questions in advance or during the event.
The event is free to attend, and all are welcome. For more information or to submit questions for the Q&A, email Laura Rodriguez at laura@rsyp.org.
