Sabo Honored by Psychiatric Group
PITTSFIELD — Alex Sabo, M.D., director of the Berkshire Medical Center Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, has been awarded national recognition by the American Psychiatric Association.
At the APA’s annual meeting, staged recently in Philadelphia, Sabo was presented with the 12th annual Nancy C.A. Roeske, M.D. Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Medical Student Education.
The APA and its Committee on Medical Student Education recognized Sabo for “outstanding and sustaining contributions made as a faculty member of the UMass Medical School.” Berkshire Medical Center is a teaching affiliate of that institution.
The award was established in 1989 in honor of Nancy C.A. Roeske, M.D. and serves as a tribute to her unique and creative contributions to psychiatric education, according to the APA.
Sabo is associate professor of Clinical Psychiatry at UMass Medical School and lecturer on Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. His recent book with Leston Havens, The Real World Guide to Psychotherapy Practice, was published by Harvard University Press in November 2000.
