Second Chance Awarded Grant from ‘I’m Animal Friendly’ License Plate Funds

EAST BROOKFIELD — Second Chance Animal Services announced it is a recipient of a 2025 grant from the Massachusetts “I’m Animal Friendly” license plate program. The funds help support Second Chance’s low-cost spay and neuter program, preventing unwanted litters and ensuring the health and happiness of pets.

“Spaying and neutering provides significant health benefits” said Lindsay Doray, chief Development officer at Second Chance. “By reducing the risk of reproductive cancers and infections, these surgeries contribute to longer, healthier lives for pets.”

The “I’m Animal Friendly” license plates are a program of the Massachusetts Animal Coalition (MAC). Funds are granted annually to organizations that demonstrate a need for funding and provide low-cost spay/neuter services. Through this year, MAC has awarded more than $3,300,000 to many deserving organizations.

Second Chance offers low-cost spay and neuter services to hundreds of pets each month at its hospitals in North Brookfield, Southbridge, Springfield, and Worcester. All Second Chance hospitals offer affordable comprehensive veterinary care to everyone, and those who qualify can receive additional subsidies to ensure access to care for all.
