Summer School of Addiction and Prevention Studies Set for June 4-7
WORCESTER — The New England Summer School of Addiction and Prevention Studies will take place June 4-7 at Worcester State University. Now in its 49th year, the program offers courses on dozens of timely topics. Intensive programs include Recovery Coach Academy, Substance Use Prevention Skills Training, and Compulsive Gambling Treating Institute.
A plenary with Dr. Howard Shaffer will round out the program. Shaffer is an associate professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the director of the Division on Addiction at Harvard-affiliated Cambridge Health Alliance. His research, writing, and teaching interests include the social perception of addiction and disease, impulse-control regulation and compulsive behaviors, addiction treatment outcomes, and the natural history of addictive behaviors.
