‘Tai Chi and Kabbalah: Agile Aging in Pursuit of Methuselah’ Slated for July 3

PITTSFIELD — On Thursday, July 3 at 10:45 a.m., Dr. Joel Friedman will conduct mind-body exercises centered on the combination of the Jewish mystical Kabbalistic tradition and what Chinese healing arts (including tai chi) teach regarding longevity and health.

This free program, “Tai Chi and Kabbalah: Agile Aging in Pursuit of Methuselah,” will be presented as part of the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires’ Connecting with Community Series at Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Road, Pittsfield. Following the program, the conversation will continue with a home-cooked lunch around the community table.

All are welcome. Advance lunch reservations are required on the day before the program (Wednesday, July 2) and can be made by calling (413) 442-2200 before 9 a.m. A donation of $3 is requested for adults over age 60, and $7 for all others.

Friedman is a research scientist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine who has also been studying the theological and mystical underpinnings of Judaism. His lens is uniquely influenced by the synergy of his science and medical background, his 40 years of training and teaching Taoist-based Chinese internal martial and healing arts, and a passion for Jewish learning.
