Thayer Named Chapter-support Director for Red Cross

SPRINGFIELD — Paige Thayer of Belchertown has been named director of Chapter Support for the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter.

Thayer has most recently held positions as the director of Development for the College of Engineering at UMass Amherst, and was previously director of Development for the YWCA of Western Mass.

While with the YWCA she played a significant role in the agency’s recent capital campaign, which resulted in the construction of a new headquarters in Springfield that also houses a shelter for battered women and their children.

In coming to the Red Cross Thayer said she hopes to help expand the community services offered by the Red Cross. It was the agency’s grass roots community appeal that drew her to the assignment, she said. Red Cross Executive Director Rick Lee called her “a perfect fit for the job. I’m thrilled to have someone of Paige’s experience and professionalism coming to the Red Cross.”
