The Birthplace at BFMC Announces Temporary Change in Visitor Policy
GREENFIELD — As the winter season continues, so has the increase in cold and flu illnesses, especially among children in the community. In the interest of providing a safe environment for newborn patients and their families and minimizing the spread of such illnesses, the Birthplace at Baystate Franklin Medical Center is initiating temporary changes to its visitor policy effective Monday, Jan. 28.
The following precautions have been announced: no visits from those not feeling well or who have the flu, all visitors will be asked to complete a health screening form prior to visiting, and no visitors under the age of 12 allowed, except siblings of the new baby.
The restrictions have been implemented in the best interest of both patients and the community. Those who wish to connect to a hospitalized friend or family member can call, Skype, or FaceTime. Birthplace staff will assist patients and families concerned about maintaining strong family connections.
