Three Baystate Health and Shields Health Urgent-care Centers to Close by March 31
SPRINGFIELD — Shields Health and Baystate Health have made the joint decision to conclude urgent-care service at their centers located in Feeding Hills, Longmeadow, and Westfield. Urgent-care services at the three locations will end by March 31.
“The difficult but necessary decision to close these jointly owned urgent-care centers is reflective of the fact that, like most of our healthcare colleagues across the nation, we are struggling with staff shortages, and these urgent-care sites are no exception,” said Dr. Mark Keroack, president and CEO of Baystate Health.
To ensure that care for the community continues to be performed at a high level, Baystate Health will continue to offer walk-in appointments and services at its Convenient Care locations at 3400 Main St. in Springfield, 325B King St. in Northampton, and 40 Wright St. in Palmer.
During this transition period, the affected urgent-care employees will have the opportunity to find a role within Baystate Health or apply for an open position at Shields Health. Everything possible will be done to support these employees throughout this time, including hosting job fairs at the Longmeadow and Westfield locations.
