Three Baystate Health Leaders Recognized Nationally by Becker’s Healthcare
SPRINGFIELD — Baystate Health announced that three senior leaders have been nationally recognized by Becker’s Healthcare for their leadership in the field.
Melonie Jackson, chief people officer; Dr. Yvonne Cheung, chief medical officer; and Clara Guixa, chief information and digital officer, were each recently named to Becker’s Healthcare national lists recognizing leaders shaping the future of health systems through workforce strategy, clinical quality, and digital innovation.
Jackson was recognized among the nation’s leading chief human resources and chief people officers. At Baystate Health, she leads the system’s people strategy, overseeing leadership development, recruitment and retention, employee engagement, workforce wellness, and labor strategy. Her work includes strengthening talent pipelines, supporting caregivers throughout their careers, and modernizing workforce decision making through predictive analytics. In 2026, Baystate reinvested $8.9 million in employee benefits to help shield team members from rising costs and support workforce stability. Prior to Baystate, Jackson served as vice president of Human Resources at UPMC.
Cheung was recognized among the nation’s top chief medical officers for advancing quality and patient safety. As Baystate Health’s chief medical officer, she leads systemwide efforts to strengthen patient safety, reduce clinical variation, and promote high-reliability practices across the organization. She oversees system standards, hospital safety programs, and evidence-based prevention strategies designed to eliminate preventable harm while fostering transparency, teamwork, and continuous learning. She also serves as a physician member of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine and chairs its quality and patient safety committee.
Guixa was recognized for her leadership in healthcare information technology. As chief information and digital officer, she leads Baystate Health’s enterprise IT and digital strategy, guiding initiatives that support clinical care, operational performance, and long-term growth. Her work includes strengthening technology governance, modernizing core platforms, formalizing technical standards, and streamlining applications to improve reliability and performance.
These recognitions underscore Baystate Health’s commitment to serving as a regional economic and health pillar for the region, delivering compassionate, quality, and accessible care, and advancing the health of local communities for all.
