Three Local Non-Profits Join Forces on Healthy Holyoke 5K Fun Run/Walk
HOLYOKE — Providence Ministries has joined forces with two other organizations, the Boys and Girls Club of Holyoke and Hope for Holyoke, to raise much-needed funds for their programming. The first annual Healthy Holyoke 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ashley Reservoir. There is no starting time; runners and walkers can show up anytime that weekend. Participants may also opt for a virtual walk.
“We have seen the effect COVID-19 has had on our programs. We rely heavily on the support and generosity of those in our community, and our inability to hold our fundraising events last year put us at a disadvantage,” said Jennie Adamczyk, executive director of Providence Ministries. “I thought, if we are struggling, other area nonprofits might be as well. We all offer overlapping services, so let’s be unified and help each other as we all work to help those in our community. We would love for you to join us in whatever way you are comfortable, either in person or virtually, as we take steps to make Holyoke healthy.”
