Valley Opportunity Council to Cut Ribbon at New Chicopee WIC Location on May 20
CHICOPEE — Valley Opportunity Council (VOC) will host a ribbon-cutting event at its new Chicopee Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program location at 254 McKinstry Ave. on Tuesday, May 20 at 9 am. Light refreshments will be served.
The new WIC location is an accessible storefront with first-floor space in a plaza with a Dunkin’ Donuts and a laundromat. The Chicopee WIC program was previously located on the second floor of VOC’s Mt. Carmel Avenue building that houses many of its other programs.
The VOC WIC Program provides healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and other services free of charge to qualified Massachusetts families. WIC serves low- to moderate-income people in critical stages of growth and development.
VOC has four WIC locations: at 254 McKinstry Ave. in Chicopee, 14 Chestnut Place in Ludlow, 300 High St. in Holyoke, and 94 North Elm Street in Westfield.
