VIABILITY Awards Mohegan Sun Enduring Equity and Inclusion Employer Award
SPRINGFIELD — VIABILITY Inc. announced that Mohegan Sun was selected as the 2021 recipient of VIABILITY’s Enduring Equity and Inclusion Employer Award. The award recognizes an employer for partnership and impact in employing VIABILITY’s program participants, making their workplaces more inclusive, and furthering equity and inclusion for people with disabilities or other disadvantages.
In more than 20 years of partnering with VIABILITY, Mohegan Sun has hired 189 individuals with disabilities or disadvantages through VIABILITY’s program and boasts an 87% success rate. Mohegan was selected for the honor based on evidence of diversity and inclusion as a core part of business strategy and company culture, systems, and policies; efforts to remove workplace barriers for people with disabilities; and success in achieving greater diversity and inclusion.
Data from a June 2021 Bureau of Labor Statistics report showed that the unemployment rate of people with disabilities was nearly twice that of people who do not have a disability. Mohegan Sun employs just over 5,000 team members and hired more than 500 individuals with disabilities through its inclusion efforts.
