Westfield State to Honor Movement Science Seniors
WESTFIELD — Westfield State University’s Department of Movement Science will hold its annual Spring Symposium to celebrate its graduating seniors on April 30, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Woodward Center. The Spring Symposium is an event focused on its graduating seniors in the fields of exercise science, athletic training, physical education, sports medicine, and wilderness leadership. Nearly 30 students will present about their internships that they been participating in throughout the semester. Family, faculty, current and incoming students attend to celebrate the seniors and parents have the opportunity to meet the faculty and staff of the Department of Movement Science. The event is designed to bring together past, present, and future movement science students with their preceptors, family, friends, faculty mentors, and campus community members to highlight and celebrate student academic and professional accomplishments. Awards will be presented to students for various achievements including the Honor Awards and the Tilia S. Fantasia Professional Award. In addition to student recognition, there will be a panel of movement science professionals and a keynote speaker who works in the field. The symposium was organized by students Sarah Murphy ’15, Christina Buonopane ’15, Nicole Read ’15, and Julia Miehm ’16. The event is free and open to the public.
