Williamstown Commons to Host Fall-prevention Screening on May 9

WILLIAMSTOWN — Williamstown Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will host a free fall-prevention screening on Wednesday, May 9 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The screening, performed by a physical therapist and physical therapist assistant from Kindred at Home, will monitor gait speed and provide an evaluation of specific needs to reduce the risk of falling.

The 15-minute screening is free of charge. Those interested are asked to register by Monday, May 7 by calling (413) 458-2111, ext. 245. Williamstown Commons is located at 25 Adams Road, Williamstown.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, falls are a threat to the health of older adults and can reduce their ability to remain independent. The CDC estimates that more than one out of four older adults falls each year, and one out of five falls causes a serious injury.
