WNEU College of Pharmacy Receives Grant from BTG International
SPRINGFIELD — Western New England University College of Pharmacy has received a fourth educational grant award of $13,500 from BTG International Inc. to host an annual pharmacy continuing-education conference for practicing pharmacists on Tuesday, June 6. The previous three conferences educated pharmacists on the latest studies and best practices concerning medication safety, drug overdose, and patient management.
More than 100 pharmacists from more than 40 institutions in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Vermont have attended the Enhancing Medication Safety conference each year. BTG has supported the College of Pharmacy with a total of $56,000 since 2014, and is committed to supporting education in medical science that promotes excellence in patient care.
The focus of the 2017 program will include lectures on best practices related to pharmaceutical care in oncology, psychiatry, and geriatrics, and the safe practices of medication use in the hospital setting. It will also provide an update on drug overdose and drugs of abuse, including opioids.
Pharmacists can receive six live contact hours of continuing education free of charge. For more information, visit www1.wne.edu/pharmacy/community/continuing-education.cfm.
