WRRS Partners with Soldier On for New Radio Series for Berkshire County Veterans

PITTSFIELD — WRRS 104.3 LPFM announced the launch of a new series dedicated to supporting veterans in the community. Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 20, WRRS will premiere “Changing the End of the Story,” created in partnership with Soldier On, a nationally recognized leader in veteran services.

The series will feature in-depth conversations, expert insights, and vital information designed to highlight the challenges and triumphs of veterans and their families. Soldier On will serve as the primary source for expertise, resources, and lived experience throughout the program.

The premiere episode will feature Bruce Buckley, president and CEO of Soldier On, who will be interviewed by Elizabeth Filkins, director of Communication for UCP. Buckley will introduce listeners to the organization’s mission, history, and vision for the future. Following episodes will spotlight the individuals behind Soldier On — housing coordinators, program developers, and veteran advocates — who help make lasting change in the lives of those who served.

Since 1994, Soldier On has worked to improve the lives of veterans by helping them reclaim their place in the community and restore meaning, dignity, and hope. The organization provides a continuum of care, including long-term and permanent housing solutions, delivered where veterans live. Its goal is to offer homeless and at-risk veterans sustainable housing alongside wraparound services.

In addition to housing, Soldier On offers a broad range of supportive services, including addiction recovery, healthcare and mental health counseling, employment and education opportunities, wellness and recreation programs, and transportation assistance. Many veterans also find employment within Soldier On, taking on meaningful roles in housing management, peer support, transportation, case management, and more.

Soldier On extends its outreach beyond Massachusetts, supporting veteran families across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

“Changing the End of the Story” aims to explore the unique challenges faced by veterans and their families and will share critical resources and support services available to them.
