AdCare Partners with New England Institute of Addiction Studies

WORCESTER — AdCare Educational Institute and the New England Institute of Addiction Studies have merged, bringing more high-quality training to addiction professionals and the community.

“This merger will broaden AdCare Educational Institute’s reach and allow more opportunities to partner with other organizations and state agencies throughout New England,” said James Gorske, executive director, AdCare Educational Institute.

AdCare Educational Institute is a nonprofit corporation established in 1986 to advance awareness, knowledge, and skills about the prevention, intervention, and treatment of substance abuse and other public-health issues. The mission is accomplished through the development of educational activities such as conferences, seminars, in-service training, and workforce-development activities. The institute is one of the largest training entities in New England.

“AdCare Educational Institute’s mission is vital to our communities, especially now as we are in the midst of the current opioid epidemic,” added Patrice Muchowski, president of AdCare Educational Institute. “The current opioid epidemic has increased the need for additional programming; unfortunately, staffing has not kept up with the increased need.”

Established in 1969 as a private, nonprofit organization, the New England Institute of Addiction Studies (NEIAS) has 48 years of experience providing training to individuals committed to preventing, treating, and supporting recovery from addictive disorders.

“The New England Institute of Addiction Studies is pleased to have merged with our long-time organizational partner, the AdCare Educational Institute, and looks forward to continuing to bring our quality summer schools and other workforce-development programs to professionals throughout New England,” said Denise Adams, NEIAS director.
