Adult Caregiver Summit on Nov. 19 to Offer Support, Resources

SPRINGFIELD — An Adult Caregiver Summit, designed as a resource for adult children caring for aging parents, family caregivers, and those who want to plan for future care needs, will be held Thursday, Nov. 19 from 3 to 8 p.m. at MGM Springfield.

The Adult Caregiver Summit was created to help attendees understand what to do next, what questions to ask, and where to find trusted local support to help them make high-stakes decisions for the people they love.

The event, sponsored in part by Greenfield Savings Bank, will offer information about hospital discharges, medication changes, safety concerns, legal documents, financial planning, home care options, hospice conversations, and the emotional weight of caring for someone who once cared for them.

The summit will walk through the journey of care: hospital, rehabilitation, home care, long-term decisions, assisted living, nursing home care, adult day health, and hospice. Attendees will also learn about care team roles, common transition mistakes, medication organization, legal and financial considerations, and caregiver self-care.

Attendees will learn what to expect across the care continuum — from the hospital to rehabilitation, home care, assisted living, nursing home care, adult day health, and hospice — while connecting with professionals who can help them take the next right step. ‘Ask Now’ sessions — brief guided conversations with caregiving professionals — will help connect attendees with the local experts and resources that best match their current situation.

Attendees will be able to get more information from a variety of exhibitors representing home care, home health, hospice and palliative care, assisted living, elder law, rehabilitation, financial and wealth management, behavioral health, medical equipment, caregiver resources, and other community-based services.

This event also supports Chanda’s House, a community-based nonprofit in Agawam, dedicated to restoring calm, dignity, and humanity to the end-of-life journey.

Dinner is included in the registration fee. Early registration is $19.99, rising to $34.99 after Oct. 1. To register, visit www.chandashouse.org/attendee.
