American Family Care to Rename All Doctors Express Locations

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — American Family Care (AFC), the nation’s leading provider of urgent care and accessible primary care, announced it will be retiring the Doctors Express name, which is currently used at more than 80 of its 147 medical centers nationwide, including locally in Springfield and West Springfield.

This aggressive rebranding comes slightly more than two years after AFC acquired the Doctors Express franchise system. The initial phase of brand transition will occur by the end of 2015, starting with the rebranding of clinics in Tennessee, Colorado, and South Carolina. All other Doctors Express clinics will be rebranded on a rolling basis throughout 2016.

“The healthcare landscape is fragmented and lacks brand names that elicit patient trust,” said Dr. D. Bruce Irwin, founder and CEO of American Family Care. “With a presence in 26 states and extremely high rates of patient satisfaction, our network of clinics has become the standard for quality and convenience in healthcare. With the AFC name on all our clinics, we will now have a single brand, from coast to coast, where Americans can place their confidence.”

Future franchise locations will open under the AFC masthead, including one opening later this year in Fairfield, Conn.

“This is an exciting time to be affiliated with AFC,” said Dr. Steven Heffer, owner and medical director of the Fairfield practice. “AFC franchise clinics are locally owned and operated by passionate healthcare and business professionals committed to their communities. Coupled with the operating standards and growing brand strength of AFC, we have become a healthcare network unmatched in quality and convenience.”
