Atlas Chiropractic to Donate More Than $4,000 to Kate’s Kitchen

HOLYOKE — Atlas Chiropractic’s 2022 annual giving goal was to donate $4,000 to the local food-distribution center, Kate’s Kitchen. On Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m., Atlas will present a check for more than that amount to Jennie Adamczyk of Providence Ministries at Atlas Chiropractic’s office on Dwight Street.

For the past 10 years, Atlas Chiropractic of Holyoke, Dr. James McCann, staff, and patients have donated cash (and, previously, food) for the needy as part of an annual patient-appreciation event, in which all patients are treated in exchange for a cash donation or previously canned goods and non-perishable food items.

Patients voluntarily make an appointment during the appreciation event and, in exchange for their donation, receive chiropractic adjustments. First-time patients are provided with a consultation and exam, including any necessary X-rays and neurological scans — a value of up to $220 for a $50 food donation.

The 2019 event donated 275 pounds of food and $1,000 to Kate’s Kitchen, and in 2020, as the world struggled with the pandemic, private donations were directed to Kate’s Kitchen, as the need never stopped. In 2021, the goal of $2,000 was surpassed, with $3,500 donated by the patient community.
