Baystate Health to Hold Three Free Virtual Breast Health Events in October
SPRINGFIELD — Baystate Health will offer three free virtual events in October focused on breast health and cancer awareness. All events are open to the general public.
The series begins with “Understanding Breast Cancer Recurrence: Risks, Realities, and Research” on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. Breast cancer recurrence is a concern for many survivors and family members. Dr. Bachir Sakr will discuss risk factors for recurrence, the latest research advancements, and how individuals can navigate this part of the cancer journey with knowledge, preparedness, and support. The second event, “What’s New in Breast Cancer Radiation: Faster, Safer, Targeted Care,” will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. Radiation oncologist Dr. Seth Kaufman will lead an informative talk about the latest breakthroughs in breast cancer treatment, including how advanced radiation techniques are making care quicker, more precise, and easier on the body. Concluding the series, “Benign Vs. Cancerous: What Breast Lumps Really Mean” will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. Finding a breast lump can be alarming — but not all lumps are cancerous.
