Baystate Mary Lane Hospital to Host Mammography and Spa Night May 21

WARE — Area women are invited to join Baystate Health’s Spirit of Women Program for a Mammography and Spa Night on Thursday, May 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will be held at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in the Radiology Department.

“In recognition of Mother’s Day, as we celebrate the special women in our lives, we also remind them about the importance of annual mammography screening,” said Tracy Whitley, manager of Loyalty Programs and the Spirit of Women Program. “While it may not sound like a traditional Mother’s Day gift, reminding the women you love about the importance of annual mammography screening can be lifesaving. We encourage women who are overcommitted with busy work schedules or family obligations and haven’t had the time to schedule their annual mammogram to take advantage of this evening event planned just for them.

“During this event, we are offering women special spa services after their annual mammogram,” Whitley added, noting that the evening will include relaxing hand treatments, chair massages, bone-density screening, and door prizes.

Spirit of Women is a free loyalty program specifically designed for women, offering monthly seminars with direct access to physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals, as well as the latest women’s health information, in a comfortable and lively setting. The program is designed to increase knowledge of women’s health issues and provide information needed to make the best healthcare decisions.

Women over age 40 who have never received a mammogram, are due for one, or are behind in scheduling their annual screening are eligible to register, and insurance will be billed. Screening mammograms are only for women without any symptoms; women who are experiencing any breast symptoms should contact their physician immediately.
