Baystate Mary Lane to Host Babysitter Academy
WARE — Baystate Mary Lane Hospital’s Community Outreach Department, in conjunction with Baystate Medical Center’s Parent Education Department in Springfield, will hold a Babysitter Academy on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Sunday, May 3, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Main Conference Room on the second floor of the hospital.
Designed for ages 12 to 16, the two four-hour sessions will offer potential babysitters instruction in first aid and CPR, child care, what to do in an emergency, and how to feed, rock, hold, and diaper a baby.
Participants will be given a course booklet containing helpful tips and other information, and will receive a graduation certificate upon completion of the course. The cost is $30 to take part in the two-day program. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required by calling Baystate Health Link at (413) 967-2488, or outside the Ware calling area at (800) 377-HEALTH.
