Baystate Noble Hospital to Host Mobile Blood Donation Team on July 14
WESTFIELD — The Baystate Health Blood Donation team will host a blood drive at Baystate Noble Hospital on Monday, July 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the third floor.
Blood donated to Baystate Health remains in local communities. A gift of whole blood is usually divided into red cells and plasma, so that one gift can help more than one individual. Premature infants, surgical patients, accident victims, and people with leukemia and other diseases often require blood transfusions. Blood and platelets cannot be manufactured; they can only come from volunteer donors.
“When you give blood, you’re not just donating — you’re delivering life to a neighbor, a friend, a family in need,” said Nicole VanZandt, BRL Blood Donor Services supervisor. “Community starts with compassion. Please help us to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply is available by donating blood with the Baystate Health Blood Donor Program.”
Blood donations, including the interview, donation, and refreshments, take approximately one hour to complete. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, have a photo ID, be in good health (no colds or sore throat), and not have donated blood within the past eight weeks. In appreciation, all eligible donors will receive a $10 gift card.
For more information or to book an appointment to donate blood, call the Blood Donor Center at (413) 794-4600. Note Baystate Noble Hospital as the donation location when making the appointment.
