Baystate Ob/Gyn Group Welcomes Certified Nurse Midwife Anna Rowe Dennis
SPRINGFIELD — The providers and staff of Baystate Ob/Gyn Group Inc. (BOGG) recently welcomed certified nurse midwife Anna Rowe Dennis into its Midwifery department, offering full-scope midwifery care in its Springfield office.
Dennis’s background includes a robust foundation in education and unique professional experiences. Her interest in a community-focused, service-based career began to take shape during her undergraduate years at Harvard College, where she majored in English and was awarded the Neil J. Houston Award for moral leadership and extraordinary volunteer commitment. Her undergraduate studies included a healthcare thread with secondary coursework in global health and health policy.
Following Dennis’s undergraduate education, she immersed herself in nonprofit work, particularly with the homeless population, both in Boston and Ireland, with a focus on supportive services, housing, and healthcare needs. She continued to follow her passion for healthcare, advancing her knowledge and skills through a bachelor of science in nursing degree from MGH Institute of Health Professions.
After working for a period of time as a registered nurse in women’s health, including in a fast-paced labor and delivery unit, Dennis went on to earn a master of science in nursing degree from the University of California, San Francisco. Returning to Massachusetts, her experience as a certified nurse midwife fellow in the Pioneer Valley before joining Baystate Ob/Gyn Group gave her a foundation in women’s healthcare in a community setting, with particular experience providing a whole-person approach to ensure comprehensive, evidence-based client care.
Her areas of interest in women’s health include prenatal and postpartum care, contraception, and adolescent health.
“My job is to provide information and support so that my patients feel empowered to make the decisions about their bodies that are right for them,” Dennis said. “I love that midwifery lets me build relationships with clients over time, and am excited to join a practice where midwives care for women from puberty to menopause.”
