Baystate’s Belchertown Facility Adds Walk-in Practice

BELCHERTOWN – Residents of Belchertown and surrounding communities can now benefit from a new walk-in medical practice, Rapid Care Clinic, at Baystate Health System’s 95 Sargent St. facility on Route 9 in Belchertown.

“We provide a comprehensive range of services including the treatment of colds, flu, allergic reactions, minor infections, minor injuries, related to bumps, sprains and strains, minor cuts, abrasions and lacerations,” said Dr. Lisa Levheim, physician, Rapid Care Clinic. “Our new walk-in medical care practice, welcomes all patients, no appointments are necessary.”

The practice treats all minor non-emergency issues that don’t require a trip to the emergency room. The practice is open Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Belchertown facility recently announced a major expansion and renovation designed to improve patient access, and expand outpatient medical services. In addition to the new Rapid Care Clinic, physician specialists in ob/gyn, surgery, gastroenterology, and nephrology will all see patients at the facility.

Construction had begun in the fall to accommodate the expanded services, which in addition to the Rapid Care Clinic, also includes the new Mary Lane Hospital Laboratory Patient Service Center. The laboratory is open Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 7 a.m. – Noon. Blood draws and the collection of other laboratory specimens are done on a walk-in, no appointment basis, and all specimens are sent to the laboratory at Mary Lane Hospital for analysis.

In the spring, radiology services will be available at the facility.

“We look forward to this opportunity to further meet the needs of all our patients, along with the needs of the growing Belchertown community,” said Tim Weir, vice president, Ambulatory Services, BHS.

Baystate Health System, based in Springfield, Mass., is one of New England’s largest health care systems.
